Hope all's well with you and your '85 900!
The HD BILSTEIN could be installed at any time and would improve road handling over the factory BOGE/SACHS shock absorber. The BILSTEIN could also be used in conjunction with a lowering spring if you decided to update your 900's suspension in the future.
The adjustable shock absorbers are ideal for weekend race use, etc. but we typically don't find the investment necessary for most street applications. Use of a good quality shock absorber will provide years of service and performance.
