My answers (remember with autox there will be as many opinions as there are participants on a given day):
Brake pads- stock pads will be fine for the time being. I've used Metalmasters on Saabs for both solo and for trackdays with my Aero. For solo you just want a pad that grabs well cold, and heats up easily. No need for anything exotic or expensive.
Tires: based on what I've heard from our local tire guru (who has direct connections to Kumho) the 710 does not like cars with lots of body roll and/or limits on negative camber. I'm not sure how much camber you can get out of a C900, but I don't think the 710 is the way to go for a stock class Saab. Plus, while VERY fast, they go off quickly, and aren't cheap.
It sounds from your posts like you're just getting into solo. I'm not a big proponent of DOT race tires for novices. Its a big initial investment, and I think having all that grip doesn't let you learn about finding the car's limits as well as street tires do.
Pressure-wise, start with 40 all around (depending on what kind of tire you end up getting) and adjust from there. Ask someone at the site how to mark the tires (bring white shoe polish). I used to have 38-40F, 42-44R on my 9000s using the old BFG R1s several years ago.
My advice overall: get an air tank, pressure gauge and helmet, don't worry too much about the car setup (obviously make sure it's safe) and go have fun for a few months. The biggest variable in solo is the driver, and the learning curve is very steep the first year. Go to your region's school, if they have one, go to test & tune sessions, ride along with fast drivers, just get seat time.
Have fun, and let us know how it goes!!
