I couldn't find a Sachs to save my life last year for my '94 w/stage 4 SQR, I went with a multi-disc unit that was obtained through Craig at Scanwest Autosport in Seattle. It was made by Quartermaster and as far as I know is the only application that is currently in a 9k, (though how the hell would I know?!). There were some definite snags with the first one that was made, the specs were wrong for the length of the input shaft and I had a summer of problems, but to their credit they redesigned me a new unit and reimbursed me labor for the R/R. I did the first one myself, had my friend who's an indy do the second one on their nickel. The new one has a gear drive in it. It replaces your flywheel altogether and saves you about 12 lbs. in all. Spool up is unbelievable, there are a few drawbacks due to the decreased dampening of the stock flywheel, but all in all I'm quite pleased with it. Everything is a trade off as we all know, I can deal with a few strange harmonics at certain RPM's. Probably the biggest drawback that I should have mentioned before you suffered through this diatribe is price. It was around $950, which sure ain't cheap. Though it is completely rebuildable and quite well constructed. At the time the Sachs imitations weren't available and Bo
Engstrom didn't want to sell me the real deal because the price was through the roof. So I was a bit more inclined to be adventurous, as it beat not driving my Aero for lack of any alternatives.
