i just put the engine back in after a few months getting a new tranny and cleaning things up. one of the projects i attempted was to pull the stock side mounts out (older rubber style), remove all rubber, and then urethane the pin into the cylinder. i bought my own urethane, poured away and it turned out fairly nicely. i installed last weekend and was back on the road.

the car was incredibly tight. absolutely no movement of the engine when shifting or accelerating. however, absolutely no dampening of the engine vibration either. i did have the engine balanced when it was last rebuilt so i can't imagine what it would be like without. if i was only driving on the weekends or at the track, this would be a great addition. however, at 50+ per day daily driving, i can only take so much of the interior rattling. i never knew things were so loose....

so i pulled out the passenger one on sunday and it got a little better. but i had to put the driver side off until this weekend. i should have it out and back to normal. btw, i also have the front "solid" style from brad and like it a lot. i had it in before and noticed no real issue with cabin noise. then again, brad's is rubber, not urethane, big difference i found....

i may try to modify the stock ones again by filling in the gaps in the rubber with urethane and leave the rubber. this may tighten things up and also provide a little more dampening. this whole event was to take it one step further than the stock mounts with a piece of steam pipe inserted under the bottom half of the mount to fill in the gap. i guess i took it a little too far....:)
