Increasing the bass boost will improve things to some degree. A SMBC does the same thing while making adjustements easy and the changes reversable. And the SMBC also can make a big reduction in boost delay. A T5 can use a MBC, MBC+A or SMBC. A T7/8 cannot tolerate a MBC, so only a SMBC can be used. I have not seen a report of a SMBC on a T8, but there is no reason to expect that it would not work in a similar fashion to the T7.

A SMBC+A when properly adjusted makes little or no increase in peak boost pressures. But the boost comes on faster and in the lower gears the boost is higher. With a manual trany, the vehicle is much faster on the street, but a dyno run would show nothing... no surprise there.

BPC valves are simply electro-variable 'bleeder valves' and these thus inherit the boost lag/delay that comes with such a controller. Ball spring type MBC/MBC+A/SMBC valves eliminate controler induced boost delays. The 9-5 2002+ vehicles with 5spd autoboxes do achieve very fast boost and may not benefit from a SMBC. The torque converter slip in an autobox does allow for gas flows to build much faster than a manual trany setup. But those who push the engine and clutch agressively claim that they are just as quick. But I doubt this. Anyways, such launches are hard on the clutch and will not do anything to extend the life of the clutch.

A stock vehicle needs to have intake and exhaust restrictions dealt with to reduce flow restrictions. C900's may be quite intolerant of such things and with these, there are aways concerns with AF ratios. Intake temps with some C900's are also a concern relative to knocking conditions.

A T5 with a MBC+A and other mods can be very fast. ECU programming is not the only solution. ECU programming will be able to easily achieve higher boost and power than a MBC+A.
