because the weight of the rod & piston assys are 180* apart as long as the piston & rod assys weigh the same there is no reason to change the ballance of the crankshaft the 4 cylinder crank is ballanced alone whereas V6 & V8 & V4 cranks they will bolt weights to the crank to represent a calculated weight at the rod journal this is how it was explained to me by my machinist (I am not a machinist)
