the rev limit is part of the programming in the ECU
there has to be a limit because of the way that the program is put togeher so one could raise it but removing it isent realy possible
the thing to understand is that unless you have a realy realy big turbo you are totaly wasting your time & your engines life spinning your engine above the stock rev limit in my SPG with the T3/60 .63 the stock limit was perfect it just started to run out of steam around 5500RPM which gave me about 500RPM overrev to get into the meat of the power in the next gear :-)
so do you have hardware like turbo, intercooler, exhaust, injectors & headwork which will allow you to actualy use a high rev limit?
a couple of other things to take into acount are that more fuel is needed to keep air fuel ratios corect at higher rev limits so for example my stage 2 2.2 LH chip which has a 6700RPM rev limit uses 34 lb hr injectors because even #30s arent enough for that high of a rev limit
& what condition is your engine in? are you gona leave parts allover the road like those old ammco transmissions comercials :-)
hope that helps
