I also have a 2.1 og900s, it's a slug and gets terrible mileage so I agree that a LPT conversion is a good idea! I feel that the proper turbo for such a conversion would be the little Mitsubishi TE05 that's found in '91 up C-900 turbo's which was also used in '90 SPG's. It's small turbine housing would be ideal for a light pressure application and of course these little TE05's spool up way faster that a T3 Garrett turbo. You should be able to get everything you need at a wrecking yard for under $500 and if you go the a pick and pull it would be more like $200. Just use your stock 2.1 (019) AMM along with the rest of it's ignition and fuel system however a set of '85 up turbo or 24# injectors would be a good idea. Any '88 up C-900T with a water cooled turbo will work fine but remember that the TE05 turbo is found in the later C900T's. Any of the C-900T intercoolers are sufficient but most of us here like the '89 1/2 up ones. Also if you end up with a pre-'91 turbo exhaust manifold there's a flap in the floor just before the turbo that needs to be removed and ground smooth, the '90 SPG's and '91 up C-900T didn't have this restriction. I won't be converting mine anytime soon but when do I'll post the results.
