I have a SD chipped 91 9kt which reaches a peak boost of approximately 21 lbs, then drops to 16 lbs. Sometimes it holds at this level and other times it drops to about 14 lbs. I suspected detonation, so I removed the knock sensor and wrapped it in a rag and drove the car, but the same boost condition persisted. I would think that this would rule out a detonation problem.

Next, I banged on the (still removed) knock sensor with a wrench and heard no clicking from the BPC. Shouldn't this have caused a reaction from the BPC? I then unplugged the original BPC and swapped the plug to another bpc, but without the vacuum lines attached. I banged the knock sensor with the wrench and listened for activity from the back-up BPC, but still I heard no clicking. Does this mean that both BPC units are bad? Shouldn't the BPC react even with the vacuum lines unattached?

I certainly don't want to spring for a new BPC unless it is necessary, but I think I may have found my problem. Any thoughts?
