well, all i can say is, even though i am deep into mods on my first real c900 performance project, and i think the result is going to be really impressive thanks to the support i get from g9, jak, bucy, vince, brad, and others and some good fortune, i rode in a 9-3 the other day, a friend of mine's, and really like it. i almost think i could be pursuaded to tweak a new gen and make it something, look at the yankton ride, it's really an A++++ car. but there are alot of options. i think a trick new aero wagon would really be somethin too.
But at the same time, if you keep your hp/torque curve rather progressive so it's peaking in the higher rpm and ramping smoothly and consistently i think the c900 wonn't blast as many trannies. but at the same time there is no doubt that the formula for stiffining the c900 5 speed hasn't been found. but there are options. i know of several things that people have done to solve the main problems. so the one to focus on i think is the shaft flex which hasn't been solved yet except perhaps the dog gear setups which are well beyond the hobby tuner's budget.
i really don't know though. i just suspect based on everything i've read. bottom line go with the one that feels best to you as you drive it down the road. they are both great cars.
