Threads on the trans axle are kinda screwey Posted by Inga [Email] (#2994) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Inga) on Mon, 1 Aug 2005 08:10:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So I have my new hubs and brakes for the upgrade from 85 to 88+. Need to get the replacement nuts for the upper and lower A arms and steering rod. But everything else is all here.
Started on the pass side and everything was kinda slow until I got going. Got everything off. Started to put the "new" hub back on. Then thunder strikes. When I noticed the treads on the trans axle was a little warped. I took the 1 1/4 nut(I think) off with a impact and didn't notice an issue when I did it. Tried like hell to get it back on. So far it's a no go.
I guess my question is how might I have done this and what do I do now?? Am I looking at replacing the trans axle just because a couple treads a bent over? Do you think I could file the treads enough to get the nut back on. They seem very small. Like a file wouldn't even get in there.
Pretty bumped right now.
