My 99 Viggen is running again after being retired in December with a cracked piston. The new engine is from a 2004 9-5 with under 500 miles. I used all the newer parts including the one peice manifold and newer different style injectors. I grafted the turbo exaust housing off a extra 9000 Aero turbo I had so now it has a TDO4HL-15T-6cm2 in place of the origional TDO4HL-15T-5cm2. I ported the stock Viggen exaust manifold to match the 6cm2 housing.
In addition I modified the gearbox by installing a Quaife LSD and also changed the fifth gear to the .7 ratio to eliminate the overdrive that they put in the newer gearboxes for economy reasons. This box is exactly the same as the one that I built for my 9000 race car and I allready like it after only 50 miles. The rpm drop on the 4 to 5 shift always bothered me, especially on track days.
If anybody has any question about any of these changes, email me and I will be more than happy to reply.
The 99 Viggen is a serious headache after owning a 9000 Aero, but it is such an special car that I can't give it up.
