9-3 Intercooler Upgrade of Choice

Hi all -- I posted something similar on the OG9-3 board and got great responses...wanted to get this group's feedback too (sorry if you're reading this 2xs -- I know some cross-over exists).
+++++++
There seems to be debate about whether a 3" exhaust or a higher-performance intercooler will add more gained power...setting this aside for a moment, I see that Eeuroparts offers the Viggen intercooler for my car (a 99 9-3 SE) for about $150 (not including the needed hoses), while MP's intercooler is $395+.
Can anyone weigh in on this -- the MP intercooler is better, period, but are the realized gains so much greater? Is the more-expensive MP intercooler going to translate one-to-one in a smile that much wider? Will the Viggen intercooler be sufficient? My intent is to drive a car that's faster than "quick", but this is my commuter and I don't have a bucket of money to throw at reduced reliability problems, etc. If I have it I'll use it but I'm not taking the car to the track any time soon.
FINALLY, please note that I intend the following mods in the following order (please let me know if you'd switch this up or if I missed good DIYs):
1) Pull turbo silencer (done)
2) mod air box/K&N filter (this weekend)
3) Steering rack and rear sway bar
4) Upgrade IC
5) Sports exhaust from cat back
6) MBC+A
7) 3" downpipe and cat
8) In a perfect world, an upgraded ECU, but this is unlikely due to $$
Thanks -- would really appreciate thoughts on this.
Wesley
