I response to 18's not being comfortable on the street that's not true. When I had intrax/koni's (matt's pic) on my SPG the ride was actually quite compliant, better then the stock SPG suspension/wheel combo! You do feel bumps a bit more then the 16 in aero rims I had before but the difference is VERY minimal!! & I use 225-35's for the street however next time around I am going to go with 225-40's just like my track tires. Presently I have adjustable springs on my SPG & it is a bit firmer then the intrax springs but it's something I will easily live with.

I honestly wouldn't knock it untill you have tried it!! I have used this combo for 5+ years now & for 2+ years of that time it was my daily driver setup (20K miles a year) with crappy Ohio roads & again, it's very liveable!!!!!!

with the wheel weight, have you weighed a set of aero or super aero rims? I would suggest throwing them on a scale & then compare then to a good set of aftermarket 18's & you will probably be surprised. It's true that a 18 will add more weight due to how it's positioned howevr the difference is not very much & also the car will handle quite a bit better with the larger wheels.

Sport Compact also did a wheel/tire test of 15-18 in wheels, you might was to read it to see what they say about + sizing wheels :)
