as the Quaife will actually let the wheel spin if you lift it off the ground. It is not a true full limited slip as opposed to the Solhelm LSD that I have in the project NG900 car. The downside to the Solhelm is that it is a real bitch to turn in slow, tight corners around parking lots. Trade off I guess. If the wheel spun then slammed down at full throttle, the shock and stress could have lead to something like this also considering that the part might have already had some micro fractures. This is all conjecture anyway.
