They suggest that small amounts, 2 - 3 ounces in 10 US gallons will improve MPGs by improving the evaporabily of the fuel droplets. I see some refererences to some very old vehicles. Throttle body injection and carbs may benefit the most. Meanwhile the goverment has been reducing fuel volitility. I don't know if this effect would be seen in high pressure port injection systems where atomization is very effective.
So might work, but the benefits, if real, may be quite small in our vehicles. But if it worked, the small amounts called for would not be expensive. I have some and will try it out and report. I have been getting 34 - 35.5 on some pure highway runs lately by slowing to 60, from 75, where traffic allows me to poke along... and using a gentle right foot
xylene and toluene can improve the octane rating, but those would have no significant effect on MPGs, but certainly very expensive compared to pump gas, these two materials do need to be used in significant amount$
10% ethanol fuels will decrease MPGs by 5-6% compared to fuels with lower amounts of alcohols.
