You could, but it would be tricky...there are a few different ways to do two turbos...
One is to have one turbo for half of each set of cylinders. This is typically thought off quicker spooling, because you have two small turbos instead of large one, but in truth you only have half as much exhuast gas per turbo. This better for h or v engine where single turbo plumbing is impractical and would require long manifolds which raise boost threshold and spool time.
Another is a switch over type system that has a small turbo for the low and big turbo uptop. I believe supra's used this on the later years. They are complicated and tricky systems, not something easy to retro fit.
The third type is compound charge, which what I believe you are getting at. You can actually have to relativaly small turbos inline compressing the charge into and then compressing it again in the second. These system work well on paper but can be very tricky to manage. The end result is very low lag and lots of power. I believe there is a company working on one for the mini cooper, that adds a turbo that blows into the factoyry turbo charge. These systems can be very effective.
