Hey Stephen! No worries, I only restore to stock configuration unless its reasons for safety or it does not affect look and feel. I do believe my AUX switch works. What the previous owner just told me is that the headlights and the grill beams, and a lot of the quarter lights bulbs were blown. He says that he does not recall even changing them and he owned the car from 1974 on. I was able to get the brake stop light working, the fuse was blown. I need to change all of the fuses.
As to the Anglia, I know there's a bunch in Australia. Not many here in the U.S. and with the fad of chopping and hotrodding cars many did not survive its original configuration. There's quite few 105es because you probably would get run over by other passing cars in the freeways. They were somewhat of a success in the U.S. Caribbean possessions and in Puerto Rico. Even a few made their way to Cuba. A handfull of them were sold in Mexico. Ford USA was unhappy that Ford corporate forced the sale of English Fords in America. According to the story, although Ford of England (ENFO) was owned by Ford, they pretty much ran their own show as the market and configuration was quite different. US Ford designers criticized ENFO designs and when supposedly one ENFO designer attended meetings in Detroit, the US designers showed them the upcoming Lincoln models. With fins and a balanced use of chrome, and also a floor shift four speed transmission they were developing, all this was meant for a high end vehicle. The ENFO designer came back to Dagenham and the result was the 105e coming out before the Lincoln model, sporting fins, chrome and the FIRST Ford branded floor shift four speed vehicle for a modest consumer sedan. It went to market before the Lincoln did. So imagine that.
Notwithstanding the above, I think you should hold on to your Sonett. If you have the time and space, grab an Anglia that's complete for a few coins. The Anglia Owners' Club in the UK still has all the spares and those Kent engines are very rebuildable and strong. I'll be more than happy to share more pictures so that you can show them to your daughter. I'll get some up and send them to you.
