Hello again!
I pulled my fuel tank and found that it's in pretty good shape: https://imgur.com/a/dp0XYUp
On the outside, I'll sand down the rust on the welds and paint over it.
On the inside though, you can see that the white coating has begun cracking off. I'm planning to do the POR15 treatment (https://por15.com/assets/images/instruction-sheets/Instructions-POR-15-Fuel-Tank-Kit-En-Fr-V2.pdf, and I'm hoping that the coating material comes off. So question #1 is:
1. Do you think "step 1" in the POR15 guide will be sufficient to get rid of that coating?
2. Is there another option? I've scavenged the forums but haven't found much.
"Step 1: Mix your 1st quart of POR-15® CLEANER DEGREASER with 1 quart of WARM water.
Extremely hot water could melt the adhesive on the duct tape. Pour the mixture into the
tank, shake vigorously, and “roll” the tank around to ensure the cleaner gets to all inside
surfaces for a minimum of 30 minutes. You may add a chain or nuts and bolts inside the
tank to help knock rust and varnish off when shaking the tank. Now empty the solution
from the tank and rinse it out with water. Repeat with 2nd quart of POR-15 Cleaner
Degreaser if necessary."
Thank you, kind saab-ers.
Thanks
