Hi Brad,
The Sonett III headlight circuit is fairly complex and uses 4 relays total. Three of them are straightforward relays (parking light, headlight engage, aux light) and one is complex (main headlight relay) that handles the dimming function. I can send you a schematic if you email me directly. Switching to LED lights is a great choice, but I'm not sure there's an advantage in eliminating the relays.
Or maybe I'm not understanding- which cockpit switch are you referring to? The SIII has the microswitch associated with long light pull lever- that's not in the cockpit. Or maybe you have a SII or V4 which DOES have a headlamp switch in the cockpit. Those cars have only the one complex main headlight relay.
So give more details on which Sonett you have and what you're trying to eliminate.

PS- one more thing- smaller wire is not aways better. It can be more fragile and subject to breakage over time.
