I shoulda said it's better to try to match the original wattages (get 'em either from the diagram in the manual or try to read the tiny print on the bulb base if it's still there) if only because it looks weird while driving to have some of your instruments lit more brightly than others. But if it's a question of 'bulb' or 'no bulb' and you're tired of not being able to see your temp gauge in the dark, I don't think it's very likely you'll hurt anything if you get a slightly different bulb. The tiny bulbs used in a Sonett instrument cluster don't come in very high wattages anyway -- the only ones you're likely to find in an auto parts store are 'dim' and 'dimmer.' If the store's got two bulbs that will fit, pick the one with lower wattage.

I'm sure it's different on a C900...
