There are actually THREE plugs:
-- The FILL plug is on the top of the gearbox and has a square recess in it. You can remove this with a 3/8' drive socket extension; about a 3-inch extension seems to work best for me. It's not hard to get at, although removing the air cleaner makes it easier to reach. If you find it awkward to turn it from the steering-wheel side, try reaching across from the passenger side.
-- The LEVEL plug is different from the fill plug. It's on the lower front surface of the gearbox on the steering wheel side. It has a square head sticking out of it. You can see it from the top, but I find it easier to reach from the bottom. It's hard to get enough clearance under there with car on its wheels, but as yours is on jackstands you should be able to crawl under there and get it. You don't fill the box through this plug; you just remove it to make sure there's enough oil in the box. If there's enough to just barely trickle out of this hole, it's full enough.
-- The DRAIN plug is on the bottom center, but you already know that. If you're lucky, you have the later type with a square recess in it (like the fill plug) which you can remove with a socket extension. If you're unlucky, you have the original plug with a V-section crosspiece in it, which can't be removed without a special tool (you can make one by grinding a matching V-shaped notch into a cheap, expendable socket.)
