If it's stuck in gear then the only alternative to the freewheel is to pull the plugs to get rid of the compression. (ish)
If it is running and the clutch is frozen to the flywheel there is a way to free it. My 96 did this. But this is not for the weak at heart or those living in busy residential areas.
1. Get the car pointed in the exit position
2. Start the car in 1st gear (lurching all the way)
3. On the open road work your way through the gears to at least 3rd
4. With good throttle, disengage clutch, torque should be sufficient to break clutch free.
----- This is the quick and dirty technique with risks in both the SAAB and the driving of a car with essentially direct drive. I did it because I bought the SAAB for $125.00 and I lived on a county black-top in the middle of Iowa farm country.
