Mine does, and I've heard a lot of other people mention it also. I think the root cause is a worn area on the variable resistor in the tank sender.
However, sometime when you're digging around the car, you might want to clean and check all the electrical connections and grounds, both at the tank end and the instrument-panel end. I did that, and it did make the jumping less drastic and less frequent.
