Probably you do not need a fuel pressure regulator. I have run through several electric fuel pumps on my '69 V4 and never had the need. Other posters have recommended that if you fit an electric pump you must include a regulator to reduce pressure out of the pump into the carb. The carb float needle setup should easily control the 5-6psi pressure from a typical electric pump (((IMPORTANT, IT MUST BE A PUMP DESIGNED FOR A CARB SYSTEM, NOT AN EFI SYSTEM, THE EFI SYSTEMS OPERATE AN MUCH HIGHER PRESSURE AND WILL CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS))) and has never in my experience needed a regulator. If the car operates better with fuel pressure lowered to 1-3psi than at regular FP output of 3-6PSI, this indicates a carb problem not a fuel pump problem.
