"the 4.5 wide rim is narrow for these, but they will work fine. I have 195-60's that have been on Soccers for 10+ years and work fine. If you want some 'official' approval, check with Jack Ashcraft. He has been using 195-60 on Soccers for years, and he has experience with ultimate tire combos for Sonett's from his autocross competition car."
I have the same problem about finding good tires to fit my '69 95 and '72 96, but have only stock 4" rims at this time. I have disrecommended mounting 185 and 195 tires on either 4" OR 4.5" rims because either is far off the tire mfrs recommendations that (for example, & according to my best recollection without going again to the specs) the minimum recommended rim width for a 185 tire is 5.5" or 6", and the minimum recommended rim width for a 195 tire must be at least that or greater. These are numbers I have found on Tirerack. If Jack runs 185 or 195 on 4.5" rims and considers them satisfactory, I am not the one to argue with that, he is the expert and I am not. I would like to know what tire pressure adjustments are appropriate for the mismatch and what handling issues can be expected.
