There's an access panel?!?!?

Your car has an access panel for the master cylinders? Mine (also a 1974) doesn't have one, but it's a great idea! (My car got hit on the left front corner long ago, and I suppose maybe the guy who fixed it just welded up everything instead of recreating the access panel.)
Anyway, since mine didn't have any way to reach the m/cs and it was all rotted down the side of the engine bay inside the wheel well (it gets rotted there because spilled brake fluid runs down the inside and eats off the paint, leaving the metal free to rust) I just cut out a big enough chunk to make it easy to reach, and then when I was done I welded up most of it and then left a small inspection opening which I covered with a flat plate attached by sheet-metal screws. I figured I was just making this up!... but does your car have something similar from the factory?
