Hmm... good advice. I forgot to say something that might be something to add to this. When the car stays at high rpm's and I turn it off (without touching the carb) I can start it again and it isn't stuck at the previous rpm, it ides normally (till you accelerate it).
About the whole thing with with the carb hanging up, the very top throttle plate should be flexible and loose right? That's how my car is right now. I looked in the manuals and found that it is attatched to the automatic choke. I don't mean it's dangling around in there, I'm just saying that you can move it very easily without any resistance.
This is my first sonett, and my first car with a carb, and my first piston engined car. This forum is really helpful, its support rivals the RX7 forum of which I am also a member. I'm thinking about subscribing.
