alternator won't charge

I just got a 71 sonett III with a bad engine. $2000 later, I have a nice souped up V4 with oversized everything. It runs great. Problem is it won't charge worth nothing. I can drive for 15 min before the battery is dead. There is no grounding wire for the alternator, but the alternator is well grounded on the mount. The alternator is the 2 wire type. Positive cable is good. I have an alternator light on, but it never flickers or nothing. just stays on. I tried to pull the alternator pos cable when it runs. no spark no nothing. so I guess my new alternator won't output. how do I fix this. where is the voltage regulator on this stupid thing. I just want this thing to charge. I don't know why my car had a 2 wire alternator instead of the stock one, but it does. When I purchased a new one I got a 2 wire that crossed for a 1971 camero. So whatever that is worth. if anyone knows anything that would be apriciated. I want to drive my sonett!!!!!!
