I was at a local U pull it yard here in San Antonio yesterday when I happened upon a familar site. I thought I was imagining things and had to do a double take, but there it was, a sad Sonett waiting for its date with doom. It would have come even sooner due to fact it was in the Japanese section which has a fast rotation. Checking the car over, I found that it was %100 complete, even down to the very elusive blue center caps. At this point, I ran back to see if it were for sale, but was told it was highly doubtful since cars prossesed in the yard were unsellable. The guy at the counter told me to speek with the owner in the morning, and maybe he would consider selling. Too much axiety for me to deal with for 24 hours.

The long commute to the south side of town seemed longer than ever. I get there and it turns out the junk yard owner had not sent the title back to Austin to be deemed "Junk", and that he would sell it for $500. I paid for the poor thing and will be picking it up in a week or so.

Though the rockers are pretty rusted, the fiberglass is in great shape. The floors arn't too bad either. Judging from the condition of the paint, age of tires, and lack haze on the windshield, it looks to have been stored under cover for a long time. The seats have been recovered in VW style basketweave pleather. The engine lid didn't want to open, so I have no clue what suprise awaits me under there.

I never see any vintage Saabs in this neck of the woods. Makes me wonder where in the hell they dug it up from? I left my number for them to call me in case any pre 80 saabs come in. You never know.

Now its time to rent more storage space:-)
