Robert Cham, Note: engine ID numbers prior to #175000 are 1500cc engines (maybe industrial type engine if no serial # stamp). The engine’s ID number (on the engines used by Saab) is stamped onto the sloped casting area, which is located at the front left side of engine close to the temperature sending unit. You can also use a piece of wire fed thru the plug hole to check the stroke length (BDC to TDC).
