hi all.
i have a strange (or mebbe not so strange) problem with my 2.3t in a 91
CD. i had the timing belt done as well as a few other oddities
(dampener, &Ct.) about 3 months ago. i had replaced the di cassette too
about a month before that (and plugs<s>).
since then i have what i would call a problem with timing, were this an
engine w/o a di system. it starts hard and warms up slow...as if it is
getting too much fuel or an injector has leaked into it while it sat.
once warm it has a rough idle at times and within tolerance
occasionally. but it consistently idles, from the tailpipe
vantage-point, as if it is missing on a cylinder.
performance seems to be o.k. but who knows? i don't think the thing has
ever run to specs. since i got it 6 months ago. but it was running much
better prior to the operation that replaced the timing belt. could this
be the culprit? i didn't have time to do it so i had a trusted
euro-wrench do it for me.
someone actually suggested that the valves could be flaking out on
me...seat height something or other out of adjustment?! anything i
should consider seriously?
any advice would be helpful short of going in to a dealer so they can
tell me to replace the ecm <s>.
