If the smoke is BLACK, then it's likely NOT the turbo. Bad turbo seals will cause either white smoke (turbine side leak) or bluish smoke (compressor side leak). Black is normally an indication of an over-rich condition. This could be caused by a variety of items: Oxygen sensor, Air Mass Meter to name but two.
Either get a Bentley's manual (http://www.rb.com) or get over to
Townsend Imports site & look up the procedures.
