True. However, on Saabs from 1976 on, when you replace the clutch, it is a great idea to replace the slave cylinder 'while you're in there', since it all has to come out again if the slave goes later...
In fact, the clutch kit that Saab sells for the 1978-1989 (?) turbo includes the annular slave cylinder. A great deal, as you get the pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing, slave cylinder and tranny seal for about $200.
For some reason the later clutch kits do not include the slave, but it should be replaced anyway. Even if it is $100, it doesn't cost any more in labor when replacing the rest of the clutch. But, expect a $300 labor bill if you need to replace it later.
Don't know about 9000 kits (NG 900s use a cable clutch through 1997).
