9000t loose shifter
Posted by Cort D (more from Cort D) on Thu, 7 Dec 2000 21:29:24
Well I have had a chance to do an inspection and a local shop did a quick
inspection, I use the guy for other jobs so he racked it free, any way.
the coupler (rubber peice to reduce noise and vibraion) is fine,
thoughtso as I replace it 5 months ago. He thinks it may be the bushings
in the shift mount or what I call the shift lever. He has never done this
job so I will tackle it my self.

I do not see or feel any slack in the bushings, though a cometent saab
shop a phone call away says you cant tell till apart. Has anyone had this
problem before? Symptom is that the shifter is floppy in the detent area
that is it will move between the 3-4 gate and the 5-R with no effort and
will not spring back to the 3-4 gate by it self.

I am hoping <gulp> that it is not something in the transmission. Has
anyone run into this before?
