A Changing Colors Paint Job Question
Posted by Thomas Burgin (more from Thomas Burgin) on Tue, 2 Jan 2001 12:23:45
Hi all,
We're planning to get a '00 or '01 9-5 (maybe wagon) this year. Rather than sell the '94 V6 900, I'm considering keeping it and selling my SPG. That's a really tough consideration for me as I love driving the SPG and it doesn't have any real problems. Looks good and runs great. It just needs a rack to enable the power steering but that's been the case for the past 2-3 years and I'm perfectly used to it as is. But. It is getting a little old, and I know it's better to sell when it's in good shape.
So. To that end, I think. Other than the difference in driving, the other drawback (to me anyway... My SPG is black) is the color of the V6. It's the emerald green. And while I'm thinking of it, I've already had the timing chain replaced twice... So I've dodged that bullet. My mechanic (best one I've ever had or heard of -- Sovereign in Alpharetta, Georgia) says other than that, the prognosis for the V6 looks excellent hereafter.
As I see it, the only way I'd be able to tolerate driving the V6 would be if I had it painted another color... Probably black.
One painter says it would be more trouble than it was worth (intricacies of inside doors, etc.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the changing colors?
TIA,
TB
