Alex, I believe that the slight rubbing you're experienceing is a 'feature' of the design.
I'm not sure if this is what the term refers to or not but I think the idea is that of a 'floating caliper.' Basically, after the brake pedal is realeased the pads are 'pushed' back out (by releasing the compression of the pads and rotor and the slight run-out of the rotor) instead of being 'retracted' hydraulically or mechanically. This means that the pads will always be rubbing slightly as the caliper will not release any farther than the resitance it meets can reach.
As an aside, during the gas crisis of the 70's, I've heard that some cars were fitted with brakes that truly did 'retract' the pads or shoes from the friction surface so that they did not rub at all and thus were eliminated from the variables affecting the fuel economy of the car. But when the crisis was over, those designs were abandoned because they were problematic and complicated.
