Brakes, pressure accumlator, etc
Posted by Stephen Hartsell (more from Stephen Hartsell) on Sat, 16 Jun 2001 16:09:06
Unfortunately,I have erased the this thread of correspondence but hope my story is relavent.
Around Christmas, I had similar problem with my '88 9000t. After lots of trial and error my mechanic diagnosed a bad ABS pressure sensor ('switch kit' part no 89 94 071 $378.50!). Several Saabnet emails helped sway my mechanic from the misdiagnosed accumulator. I later learned of a possible tendency for the pressure switch to get corroded contacts due to mild exposure to the elements. A subsequent Saabnet email advised cleaning contacts on the sensor, rather than replacing with a new one. Unfortunately, I didn't get this info in time to suggest it to my mechanic.
Hope this info helps and that you might save $4-$500.
