clutch trauma
Posted by Ken Butcher (more from Ken Butcher) on Fri, 13 Jul 2001 14:31:26
hello all, I'm trying to replace the slave cylinder on my 1985 900 non turbo 5speed, and have hit a major snag. there was no pressure left at all when it went out, even after i tried to bleed it, so i couldn't depress the pressure plate with the cars own hydraulics, etc. Well, i have been prying on this thing for 41/2 hours trying to get it off by any means necessary. i have tried everything i could think of to get the slave out and have only made it worse... now with the last of my prying and hammering i have managed to pop the pressure plate off a couple of the flywheel pegs and it wont go back on putting even more pressure on the springs! (not what i was trying to do) I cant even get the prybar in there anymore much less the saab tool they recommend at this point. if i could find a place to get the tool. the whole job has been a breeze until that point now it is just highly frustrating. I am going to replace the entire clutch anyway, so will i have to cut this thing out piece by piece or what? has anyone else run into this problem, and what am i going to do with it? any helpful comments at all will be welcomed with open arms. thanks,
Nathan
