Headlamp Wiper Motor Replacement on 9-3
Posted by richard (more from richard) on Wed, 31 Oct 2001 11:51:34
Hi,
I have a 1999 9-3 whose driver-side headlamp wiper was taken out of commission by the impact of blowout debris. The wiper actually works, it just doesn't stop when the wipers stop, so apparently it has lost its ability to identify its stop or home position.
Is the motor something I can replace myself? I'm guessing that the motor is integrated with the headlamp and will cost me an arm and a leg because I have to replace the entire assembly. I can disable the headlamp washers by removing a fuse in the engine bay fuse panel, but this car is leased and I'm guessing that I'll be hit for excessive wear and tear charges if the wiper isn't fixed.
Thanks,
Richard
