If you live in a hot dry climate, then the wipers probably won't last much
longer than that. I've found that routine use of the combination of RainX and
ArmorAll greatly extends the life of the wipers.  The RainX you can apply to
the windsheild once a month or so, as you get gas or something.  For the
wipers, soak a somewhat abrasive cloth (old cotton rag is probably adequate)
with ArmorAll, and firmly rub down the wipers with it.  This removes any
dried, corroded rubber and leaves the rest nicely conditioned.  Be sure to
thoroughly get the sides and the contact edge of the blade.  When the rag has
turned black you'll know it's working...  I do this whenever I wash the car.
