Well have not had this problem with a SAAB, but just had this problem with a
sub urban. Problem turned out to be an intermitant 'open' under load.
Symptoms were almost the same. I found the probelm by waiting for issue to
occure and then taking my V.O.M. and (at first just being mad) and checking
voltage, issue here was with no load everything looks fine, when you add load
the problem would show it self and voltage would drop to about 2.5 V. it was
a painstaking job about 3 hours but found a bad connection that on load would
open, causing all the wounderful problems you describe.

Only problem you have to wait for it to be bad enough to actually trace. LOL
