AC not working
Posted by Damon Rogers (more from Damon Rogers) on Mon, 2 Aug 1999 21:31:42
Hi, Recently my 88 900T's Air Conditioner stopped working. With luck I was at my Garage when it happened. Any how I was reading somebodies message about how their AC was blowing fuses and the Green wire had the insulation melted off it, and after the smoke cleared out from under my hood I noticed the same, (the green wire was bare) and also I noticed that their was some kind of black oily residue on the hood of my car over the AC Compressor, now my mechanic said that the bearing had gone, but I noticed that it still spins freely? Well the temp fix to it was to take the belt off it and disconnect the wires, but I would like the AC fixed, So I was wondering if you can rebuild AC Compressors, or if I should just go to a junk yard and get one? Also I was wondering what would cause the insulation to melt off the Green wire?
Thanks
Damon
