Number one reason for a failed controller is a failing fan.
Look at http://www.townsendimports.com/climate_control_folder/fanresistsb.htm
If the fan goes, have a real close look at that heater core.
We have the fans for $87.75 and the heater core kits for $97.97. Speed controller varies with model year and type of climate control, from $71-$150.
Note that all three parts have been updated. Make sure you get the updated parts when replacing. Fans and controllers now have overload protection and the heater cores are from a different manufacturer, Magnet Marelli instead of Valeo. The heater core kits come with all necessary hoses and hardware. We've had no problems yet with the updated parts, but plenty with the original ones. Saab rectified the problems, make sure you get the updated stuff, not simply the copies of what you already have.
