'I am familiar with Bosch CIS (on my VW) but have a few questions about differences. Will the plastic fuel lines to the injectors give me trouble? My VW has braided steel. Are they expensive to replace? The car has been sitting so I will be doing a lot of fuel system cleaning. '
The fuel lines become very brittle over time, and brown in color (at least mine were). I replaced two at $35 each before I got clued in to a local repair shop's mark-up. I found them for half that price elsewhere, but replaced the other two (the old ones will break easily- no elasticity) with some hose from McMaster-Carr, a national mail-order 'hardware store'. I don't remember the exact specs on the hose, but it was of average pliability and I was able to bend/stiffen it to replicate the curves in the original pieces. Never had a leak in them in 2 years plus; cost was about $7.
