If you are referring to the CS body style, all Aeros were that body style.

Yikes... that's expensive. That's what I was quoted for my Crown Vic's
headgasket, and that has TWO of them.

As for the diagnosis, I'd say he's probably right on. I'd lean towards the
headgasket theory more than the cracked block, but you can't tell until you
pull the head.

I'm in the middle (literally) of doing the headgaskets on my Crown Vic. I was
quoted about $1100 for the job, and therefore decided to do it myself. It so
far appears to total about $400 in parts. I needed the head set (all the
gaskets), new head bolts ($40 a side - yikes), $62 for new timing chains, and
$56 got the heads milled.

When you do the headgasket, also see about doing the timing chain, I believe
it's very easy to do at the same time (it is on the Vic, as I had to remove
them anyway.)

A new headgasket for my Saab goes for about $60 or so, expensive, but not
horribly so. Plus, you need all the other gaskets (valve cover, timing cover,
exhaust, intake, etc.) Some of this might be different, as I've only done
this to my Vic.

Good luck,
