EXH Warning Light
Posted by Chasisaac1 (more from Chasisaac1) on Thu, 4 Nov 1999 18:25:13

I finally have my 86 900 on the road again! However, I just got the EXH light
on. Where is the reset switch for that puppy. I already changed the O2 sensor
but I cannot locate the switch.

Subject: New to the list '96 9000 Aero
Content-Type: text/plain; charset='us-ascii' ; format='flowed'

I've been subscribing for about 3 weeks now, and figured I'd finally
chime in with a few questions.

I've made my '96 Aero for about 2 weeks now, and I'm thrilled with
the car. It was in new condition (only 33K miles). And its
performed flawlessly, with one exception.

There's a rattle in the right rear speaker (in the hatch). I think
something just slipped through the grill, and is resting on the cone.
Does anyone know how to get in there? Is it simple? As the car is
still under warranty I plan on having them do it, but I'd rather not
take the time.

There seems to be a fair bit of driveline lash, durring shifts, is
this normal? I tend to be tender foot with the clutch, getting off
it as quickly as possible, while still being smooth. It seems like
there is some shifting of the mechanicals regardless? I'm use to
rod-actuated shifters, is it possible this is exaggerated by the
cable(s)?

The car has every option, as near as I can tell, except the
CD-Changer, what would one cost? Where could I find one? And how
tough is it to install? I know all VWs now come pre-wired.

The car has no shortage of power, however I've only once, very
briefly gone into red area, just past the broken red area. Is this
normal? I've heard people talk about 'overboost' and going into the
red on the turbo/apc gauge. I always use Mobil 93 Octane gas.

Have I given up anything important by going with the 9000 Aero, over
a 9-5 Aero? My primary reason for this (other then a healthy price
difference), was my disdain for trunks. I have yet to see a Aero
wagon, and the sedan just doesn't do it for me. I know the 9-5 Aero
got some 5 more horsepower, but thats really trivial to me. I also
know that the 9-5 felt heavier, and a little more sluggish.

I know SAAB added some side impact protection for '97 to the 9000
serries, is this significant? Or just to satisfy some silly domestic
legislation?

I'm sure this has all the potential for starting a flame war, but who
is the best dealership in the Boston area? Keep in mind I have a
warranty, so cost isn't really a issue yet..

TIA,
-Austin
