Well you still bought a car from the same stable (General Motors).
What surprises me is that anyone can call a car 'Zafira' and manage to sell
it :-)))
For US people, you can find the car from this web page
http://buypower.vauxhall.co.uk/sitemap/

I wonder, when the kids grow up and you have a bit more money (I do not have
kids and thus I can afford one of the last 9000s) will you still want a
Zafira? You have probably done the right thing and put emotion aside by
looking at the necessisities of life and your family.

I would probably disagree with you on the safety aspect of things, there
again I am not into the newest generation of SAABs. I cannot thing
of many cars in the class of 900, 9-3, 9-5, 9000 that will be much
better. True, the newer cars are going for the softer, more absorbing panels
(ie. in my view, lighter, cheaper on fuel, more environmentally friendly, and
probably also cheaper to produce). Still, compared to others SAAB doors shut
with a 'thud' and not a 'clunk'.

It is easy to see how/why SAAB is moving in that upper part
of the market. The model many manufacturers aspire to is BMW. They too
started producing cars after the 2nd world war and concentrated on sporty
models (niche market if you like). Look at them today. When SAAB was taken
over by GM the bigger worry was if the 'brand' would survive at all or would
become like Opel and Vauxhall (in Germany and UK respectively) by producing
cars like everyone else. GM has the mass produced cars so it does want the
company to produce cars for the upper part of the market.

Of course, my explanation will not make you feel any better. You probably
know it yourself. It is understandable if you are upset for not being
able to buy the car you wanted, a 9-5 Estate (and I would add, in Silver,
with alloys and very-very BLACK interior). Huhh, I cannot afford it either.

Nothing wrong with an Opel (pretty good too before GM took it over). Now,
here is your plan (I hope your wife is not looking at the screen over your
shoulder right now. If she is, the message and your computer will self
destruct in 25 seconds).

1. You must encourage her (for encourage read: do what it takes ...) to get a
good job. Preferably one that she earns a lot of money, enough to pay for a
nanny and for a new car for her and the kids and have some change left
over (even better if she earns more than you. Let her think she is the
boss).

2. You then get left with the old 'Zafira'. Both YOU and your wife decide
you don't need two cars to take the kids out. You sell the Zafira but then
you discover you still need a car for you. Take your pick, a 9-3T would be
very nice (who cares about the space). All you have to do is buy a used car
in an ugly colour and, always make sure your wife has the NEWEST car in the
family. Eternal happiness my man!

I wish you happy motoring with your new motor ;-) There is always life after
a car called Zafira, you can always buy a SAAB again :-)

Regards
Charles

PS. No hate mail from wives please! I am only concerned with eternal
happiness for Bjorn and Corina. Reaaally ;-)
