NG900 Center Armrest Installation/Leather Shift Boot
Posted by Nathan Appleton (more from Nathan Appleton) on Wed, 26 Jan 2000 11:44:37

Any owners of NG 900 '94-'98(?) installed the center armrest sold by SAAB?
This is the armrest that attaches to the top of the front
cupholder/coinholder just rear of the parking break. (see:

itmNum=9610)

I am considering installing one myself and wanted to see if anyone has had
experience doing so. Specifically, how does the armrest attach to the
plastic cupholder cover, screws? How difficult/long is the installation?
Does the armrest get in the way of your elbow as you are shifting?

Also, has anyone replaced the stock, rubber shift boot with the leather
shift boot? (see:
http://www.saabcatalog.com/itemdrive.icl?orderid=ID94891372754526246C3C56E11

&itmNum=9003) How difficult is it to install this? How do you remove the
shift knob to get the new boot over the shifter? I've often wondered why
SAAB went cheap and put a rubber boot on a car with standard leather seats,
steering wheal and shift knob.

Thanks,

Nathan
