Battery size for 1988 9000S
Posted by Jack Brooks (more from Jack Brooks) on Thu, 27 Jan 2000 09:55:39
When I bought my last battery, I went through some minor gyrations to get a
larger battery into the tray. Some minor bending of the hold down clamp was
required. I no longer have a record of the Group number designation (size)
of this Interstate battery, although it measures out at 10.25' long x 7'
wide x 7' high. Although this should be enough to pick up a new one at
Costco (manufactured by Johnson Controls, good batteries), does anyone know
the correct Group number for the larger battery?

Did I miss the size designation on the case? I couldn't find it.

BTW - number one cell is starting to short out. The voltage drops from
12.65 to 12.41 overnight. This Interstate battery (also by Johnson
Controls) is 6 years old and has survived two bad voltage regulators.

Thanks in advance,

Jack Brooks
